About The University of Auckland
The University of Auckland is New Zealand’s largest research organisation with more than 13,000 staff and postgraduate students involved in fundamental and applied research. It generates around $230 million in annual research revenue. In the New Zealand government’s assessment of research output and quality, the Performance Based Research Fund (PBRF), we are the top performer in all three PBRF component areas: Research Quality Evaluation, Research Degree Completions and External Research Income.
Founded in 1883, Auckland is the country’s largest university with over 40,000 students, nearly 10,000 of whom graduate annually. The University of Auckland has been ranked internationally as New Zealand’s leading university for Graduate Employability. In the Times Higher Education Global University Employability Ranking 2016, the University was placed amongst the 150 best universities worldwide for delivering work-ready graduates. The University maintained its 2015 ranking of #140 and was the only New Zealand university ranked in the top 150. The QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2017 also ranks the University of Auckland #1 in New Zealand and #51-60 worldwide.
